Freshly roasted coffee beans, subtle underlying flavours, beautiful aroma, yes I’m celebrating everything coffee!

Coffee week giveaway - celebrating UK Coffee Week with a couples gift set from Perkulatte! Delicious artisan roasted coffee, and beautiful baked biscuits with hand finished detailing!

It’s no secret that I am a big fan of coffee, and that coffee features in quite a few of my recipes too! So, I just had to celebrate UK Coffee Week!

Coffee has been a staple for many people for many years. In fact coffee dates back as far as the 10th Century, and possibly even earlier. Intially discovered by the Galla tribe in Ethiopia, they noticed that when they ate coffee berries that were ground up and mixed with animal fat, they would get an energy boost. The worlds first coffee shop opened in the 15th Century, and then finally introduced to the West by Italian traders in the 17th Century, where the first coffee house was opened in Italy in 1645, followed by a coffee house in England in 1651 where it quickly became extremely popular!

Now, regular readers know that I do like my coffee, ok not just like, but love it. I may even go so far as to say I ‘need’ a coffee or 2 a day. There, I’ve said it! I tend to be a latte or mocha type of girl, but I can’t do cheap coffee. It’s got to be the properly roasted, smooth and rich flavoured coffee. Sorry Nescafe instant, but it’s just NOT the same!

I think I’ve been spoilt since my lovely friend Kate who runs Perkulatte made me taste her coffee all those years ago when she set up. No other coffee tastes as good now! How can it when coffee beans are loving roasted, by people who know what they’re doing!

I’m sure you’ve heard me talk about the very popular Perkulatte, an artisan coffee company, specialising in mail order delivery of the best coffee around. Check out her website for how to order coffee straight to your door each month.

(Top tip – subscription coffee makes for fabulous birthday and Christmas presents for coffee lovers!!)

So, in honour of coffee week, and the fact that not only do I love coffee, but I also love food, I thought I’d look back at just some of the recipes I’ve created that feature coffee!

We have the classic Mocha Choca Cake. This beauty is still one of our most viewed recipes, and for good reason. Light, fluffy, smells amazing whilst baking, and tastes even better. It’s a feast for the eyes and your tum!
