The iconic fajita kit just went gluten-free and it’s fab!! And we've got a kit for you too!

We all know and have heard of, and perhaps eaten a fajita kit, but what happens when you have allergies? You can’t pick the standard kit off the shelf any more.

Well, all that has now changed with the launch of the new Gluten Free Fajita Kit from Old El Paso! Can you tell how excited I was by this?! It’s amazing!!

The lovely team at Old El Paso got in touch to see if we’d be interested in testing out their new gluten-free fajita kit and I jumped at the chance! It's currently stocked in Tesco, Ocado, Sainsbury's and Waitrose, although it is incredibly popular (understandably) and selling like hot cakes!

The fajita kit contains:

  • 1 pack gluten-free tortillas
  • 1 gluten-free and dairy-free tomato salsa
  • 1 gluten-free and dairy-free seasoning mix (smokey bbq)

it's particularly good for us because the tortillas and seasoning mix just so happen to be Callum safe! He’s unable to have the salsa that also comes with the kit due to his allergy to tomatoes, but he wasn’t too bothered by this!

So, I put it to the test with the classic fajita recipe of chicken, sliced onions, seasoning mix, frying them off with a little olive oil in a pan, and then using dairy-free crème fraiche to dollop on top and wrap using the tortillas. Safe to say, it was a big hit!

Even Mr Intolerant G was impressed as the tortillas don’t have a dry or grainy taste or texture. They’re really soft and have a lovely flavour which is hard to create with a gluten-free product!

Callum was super impressed and declared it a ‘fab’ product, which is praise indeed! If you are making it for young children, or those that don't like things too spicy,  I'd recommend only using 1/3 to 1/2 a pack of the seasoning mix as they are packed full of flavour and can be quite spicy if you're not used to it!

I was also challenged by Old El Paso to create a recipe using the kit. Now, it would have been easy to stick with a fajita recipe, but I  wanted to show you the versatility of the ingredients within the pack, and came up with something a little different!

You can see all the details of here! Let me know what you think, and if you try it!

And as if that wasn’t enough, we have a kit up for grabs, along with a few other goodies from Old El Paso too!
