The Allergy Blog Awards UK which were held at the end of February, were set up to champion bloggers in the allergy and free-from world, with an event held at the stunning Malmaison Manchester.

Thanks to all of you who nominated and voted for us, we reached the finalists stage for 2 categories, ‘Free From Recipes’ and also ‘Allergy Blog of the Year’, where expert judges determined which blog had gone above and beyond and had helped people with advice and support when it came to allergies and dietary requirements.

The judges included:

Dr Adam Fox - clinical lead of Allergy at Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospitals, London

Christopher James Clark - award winning author of Nutritional Grail

Henry Ehrlich - editor of asthmaallergieschildren.com

Jolene Beatson - founder of The Children’s Allergy Foundation, a small UK charity run by parents, for parents of babies and children with food allergies and intolerances

Kim Koeller – founder of glutenfreepassport.com

Allie Bahn - freelance writer, blogger, allergy awareness advocate, and lifestyle coach

Dr Aleksej Heinze - Senior Lecturer at University of Salford, Co-Director of the Centre for Digital Business, and Social Media Champion at Salford Business School

Jackie Nevard - founder of My Food Allergy Friends

John Burke - founder and chairperson of the FreeFrom Food Awards in Ireland

Caroline Oldham - founder of the very popular biteappy app and biteappy blog

Bal Cummins - Head of Marketing and Design for FoodMaestro

Jon and I made our way to Manchester for the awards, and met up with some of our favourite blogger friends, including Emma (Free From Farmhouse), Chloe (The Adventures of an Allergy Mummy), Kate (Gluten Free Alchemist), Becca (Glutarama), Ruth (What Allergy), Laura (Dairy Free Kids) and Nina (Eat Allergy Safe) ahead of the main event.

It was so lovely to see the allergy world being championed in such a positive way. Many blog awards exist, but none focused exclusively on allergies and free-from, so a big thank you must go to Lyndsay (Living with CMPA) for setting up these fab awards!

After a lovely drinks reception, and a chance to network with the attendees, it was time for the main event, which was sponsored by Asda Free From.

I am so proud and honoured to confirm that Intolerant Gourmand won ‘Allergy Blog of the Year’ – it’s just incredible!!

As I mentioned in my acceptance speech, Callum was adamant that if I won, the award was actually his, as the blog and Intolerant Gourmand exists because of him and for him! He’s not wrong!

But it’s also for all of you, our lovely readers and supporters!

Everything we do, is to help you and all the people out there with allergies and intolerances. To offer a helping and guiding hand to those that need it most. And to continue to work hard with industry influencers, medical professionals and more to ensure that the allergy world continues to improve and evolve.

Thank you so much!!
